Even if you have applied the patch to standardize the font sizes between ePub & KePub, some eBooks have a different base font size and some sort of line height. The only way to be sure you'll be getting the same font size and line height is to edit the CSS and sometimes the HTML.
I do edit the CSS/HTML because a lot of eBooks are poorly formatted and font size/line hight can be just some of the things that I feel need fixing.
