I hadn’t considered the possibility that I was seeing different behavior with epub vs kepub. It’s in the kepubs that I’m noticing the skyscraper tall font size settings.

You’re right. It’s Kobo’s relative settings that is causing the issue. I do recall others discussing it, but I don’t recall any solutions. Apparently, there are none.

Fortunately, once I edit the size, Kobo keeps that size for the remainder of my reading. What has changed that has caused the discrepancy in font sizing between the formats? And what problem did the change solve? I can’t say that I’m a fan of this relative sizing. I switch between purchased and sideloaded ebooks often.
