Coloured Columns

Hello all.

I am running calibre 5.42 on a Mac Mini running Big Sur (11.6.5).

I’m trying to understand how the calibre configuration folder works so that I can back it up every week in case something goes wrong (like tonight, I clicked on a “defaults” button and lost ALL my column colour rules. Lesson learned.

So I created one simple rule that makes the text of ALL columns red if the author is Agatha Christie. I quit calibre and backed up the entire calibre configuration folder in my home directory on the mac: ~/library/preferences/calibre on an external drive.

I restarted calibre and changed the colour of the rule to yellow. I quit calibre. I deleted the calibre configuration folder from my home directory and replaced it with the entire folder from my backup drive. I was expecting that ALL columns would now be red again but this is NOT the case. The columns are still yellow.

So how can I be sure that my preferences are correctly backed up?

Thanks in advance.
