You got me here. If you are not using calibre to do the collection management on the device, why are you asking here how to fix the problem? And calibre is perfectly capable of doing the collection management for you in many ways.

But, going back to the first post, how do you know the collection count is wrong? The number shown in the collection list is the number of books in the collection. You might not see them all when you open the collection if you have the filter set to not show all books. Otherwise, the only way it could be wrong, is if the entries in the database are inconsistent. And, I don't know how that could happen.
