That hasn't been my experience. I have a six year old Lenovo tablet, a four year old Pixel 3 and for good measure a five year old Surface Pro 5 in addition to the already mentioned Lumia and all still run well.

Old Samsung devices do slow down (at least those I've owned), but the more vanilla Android devices and Windows 10 have done right by me.
