So, in fact, Amazon seems to have abandoned this war of not supporting ePub on its Kindle, and they will be able to read natively ePub.
It may not be for everyone right away, but it's on its way

Well, they'll probably still sell exclusively in AZW, which is stupid, but no more conversion hassles.
(that won't stop me from continuing to boycott them, both for this heavy liability and for the current Amazon policy)

Also, abandoning the old formats is silly, especially since they are no longer evolving, but perhaps maintaining this support is a technical debt that the devs are sincerely happy to abandon.
