Likely to be related, optimize legibility does add noticeable lag for me when opening a large ebook (the complete wheel of time series) less for smaller ebook collections (A Song of Ice and Fire, Malazan Book of the Fallen, and Lord of the Rings). Opening a traditional single volume book has a very slight lag. Note for all cases lag here means a blank screen is displayed which is replaced by the text or image of whatever page I’m on. Interestingly this doesn’t occur when waking from sleep, only opening the book. And in no case is it significant enough time that I became concerned the reader has crashed it’s maybe 2 seconds of black screen being generous and on WoT which is the longest lag I’ve seen.

I’ve not noticed lag between chapters though with WoT they aren’t that frequent.
