Notebooks only work on the Sage & Elipsa and only with the special Kobo stylus. Even if the notebook icon was on other Kobos it would only let you create and delete notebooks. Even the basic one isn't the same as the Sketchpad, though it's similar and frankly pointless compared to Advanced Notebook.
A dumb stylus or BT keyboard or finger doesn't work in Notebooks except to navigate or use the menu.
