Yeah, I'm getting the same behavior on my Glo HD but I run a non-standard set up with lots of customization so I thought it was just me. The font is the Kakugo font which is the same font used if your interface language is Japanese. The trigger seems to be the USB disconnect; I can even trigger it with nickelmenu by doing a full scan for books (which does so by simulating a USB disconnect).

I find it hard to believe that this didn't come up during testing and no one else has complained, so I wonder if it's an old device thing or maybe just specific to Mark 6 devices?

EDIT: Opening up a kepub in this state makes the Kobo think it's in a different locale; I get a pop up saying that Georgia was automatically chosen as a supplementary font whenever I turn a page.
