In Calibre:
Plugins > Conversion Output Plugins > Get new plugins button > Filter by name: kepub

Restart calibre after installing and you should be able to convert to kepub.
3 years later just wanted to say thanks for the help, that fixed it for me, Im reading XX by Rian Hughes and its very image heavy, screenshots of news articles etc but double tap to zoom wasnt working, then I realised all my kepubs were suddenly epubs and I had no option to convert them, no idea what happened there but fixed now.
