Unfortunately the Clips Dock needs focus to determine what has been pressed and that takes focus away from the FindReplace and it falls to the CodeView. So using the Clips Dock does work slightly differently than the toolbar icons that never really steal focus and do not require focus to know which one was selected.

I am not sure there is any way around it. I used Saved Searches to load Find&Replace and not Clips so I have never run into this issue before.
