Have you read the FAQ's?
Wireless networking can have many Security features (good) that prevent connection to other devices (by default). Think about it. do you want Joe Crook sitting at the curb going thru your stuff (not an issue with a wired only network. They need to hook up inside)?

Most folk seem not to know how to secure their WiFi network and suppliers of WiFi gear got smarter and the WiFi passphrase is no longer 12345 or pswd any longer as well as blocking WiFi to WiFi connections by default.
What 'Band' is another stumble. One device is on 2.4 another on 5.0, cheap routers may not be able to connect these together: ever.
Oh! let us not forget (vanilla) DHCP. Your 'server' may not always get the same IP. You need to Reserve one (needed if your server is portable and uses other locations, where setting IT to a static address is inconvenient .
