Moving all my Calibre converted books to a new Kindle
I have all of my books in Calibre, liberated, and the AZW3 files transferred over USB to my Paperwhite 7th gen. I am considering getting a new 2021 Paperwhite.
I've read through a lot of threads, but I'm still unclear as to whether I can simply copy the documents folder of my old Kindle to my new Kindle. I think the answer is yes, but I would like to confirm.
The other question is whether there is a file on the old Kindle that, once transferred to the new Kindle, will cause the documents to automatically sort back into their original collections. I have a feeling here that the answer is no, but I would also like to confirm.
I have over 1000 books and 30 collections, so I really want to make sure one way or another before I decide to do this.
Secondary question: If this is NOT possible, I'm thinking about emailing all of books in mobi format to the Kindle cloud and sorting them into collections there, because it's much easier than doing it on the device. But since some of these are original Amazon purchases, I worry that I'll "get caught" having removed the DRM. Am I being paranoid? Does anyone else worry about this?
(I'm sorry if this question was better asked in the Kindle thread.)
