Not a bug. A feature as the en dictionaries now support proper spell checking of abbreviations (final periods included). Think words like Mrs., Dr., etc., ...
Earlier versions did not handle them properly.
So if a word does not exist in the dictionary (like a person's first name) if there are instances which end with a period and instances of the unknown word that do not, they are now listed separately in case they represent different things.
