So, the extra story is basically "What I did during the Christmas Break". And it is broken into chapters. If so, one thing I would do is to put the title of the story in as a chapter and then is to put the sub chapters as at a lower heading level. That would show in the ToC where the extra chapters are without breaking the original flow. Changing the chapter names to "Christmas Break 1" or something like that would help with the flow when reading. Or adding something to the end of the last of these chapters to show you are returning to the main flow of the novel.

For the "What I did during the Christmas Break", you could put it at the start of the first chapter, or add a separate file just for that. Doing the latter would allow you to add an explanation of what is happening or something else or a place to put the cover page.
