Stariel by A.J. Lancaster
#4 - The King of Faerie - 4
There are so many more directions the stories in this world can follow, I look forward to the next one. My suspicions about the major thing after book 3 were correct.
Shadow Beast Shifters by Jaymin Eve
#4 - Deserted - 2
Unlike the first 3 books there is no cliff hanger. Didn't care too much for this couple and I felt the heroine's "voice" was all wrong. This book's score probably suffered in comparison to the very well written Stariel series I had just finished. Book 5 releases on 3-29, maybe I'll read it since the first 3 in this series weren't too bad. Meh.
Outlander by Diana Gabaldon
#9 - Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone - 3.5
Listened to this 49 hr long marathon over several weeks. Narration is excellent except for Bree's voice, the book however

. The first 2/3rds of the book could have been condensed into a couple of chapters, it kind of reads like a bunch of short stories instead of developing a cohesive plot. Things start to happen in the last 3rd but even then the story arc is weak. While I cannot fault the author's prose the content was teadious, pages and pages of description of meals, religion and lactation. The fact that I listened to the book vs reading probably improved the score, this is coming from someone who loved the previous entries in the series. Amazingly the ending suggests a book #10!
