Thanks so much! As an update, I spent an hour with kobo tech, trying to reset etc, and they couldn't get past my login problem using the kobo app. The device seems to want to co-operate but on a pc i get the Captcha, and then resorts to login window and on the mac, no Captcha, just resorts to original log-in window. They confirmed the account was fine, and even added a book to my account and that worked.

Now to figure out how to get that disk image onto the sd (or new) card. Are there directions for a mac out there anywhere? I do have access to my son's pc if needed.
