It's used both ways. The Omnibus "Dragonriders of Pern" contains the original trilogy. "The Harper Hall Trilogy" refers to those three books (Dragonsinger, Dragonsong and Dragon Drums). The phrase "A Dragonriders of Pern novel" was added to reprints of the paperbacks later but wasn't used originally...except on the first three books.
Amazon lists them as the "Pern series". FantasticFiction lists them as the Dragonriders of Pern series.
Personally, I'll keep calling them the Pern books, and the first three are the Dragonriders of Pern trilogy.
