If you borrow from the library and fulfill using synchronizing with Kobo, you will get a Kobo epub with Kobo's DRM. The only time you would need ADE is when you borrow a book that Kobo either does not have or have a different edition in which case you would need to download the book from the .acsm file and then sideload it to the Kobo.
