New Test Version Attached

chaley, wizard that he is, figured out the performance issue previously under discussion (see BR's post above for where it moved to) submitted a change to help with it.

The attached test version makes use of the perf fix, but it currently will only help if you run Calibre from source. This version should still work on older Calibre versions, though.
