Obviously there are those who do find it extremely enjoyable. Austen’s an industry and P&P is in first place for many if not most. (My own favorite is
Emma.)

You keep saying that. It means nothing on the face of it. What is the issue with the writing? Among the many pleasures of
P&P is that the vernacular is fresh two centuries later and it’s flat-out funny.
