I think that the slow e-ink response time means that to do text search (and therefore text entry), you need a keyboard or touchscreen. The joystick just won't do it, so as I don't think an add on keyboard is likely, I'm convinced that to support text search on the Reader, you have to have new hardware. And I'm hoping they are really working on the next Sony Reader anyway. However, even as good as Mossberg is, I'd have to see confirmation somewhere before I am confident it's not just a miscommunication, or referring to working on a new Reader in the vague sort of "they are thinking about what they might do with another Reader product if they decide to make one" way.
