For me, the "both" option works the best, as it allows me to email the book to my Kindle (or use Send to Kindle) so that it will sync with my other devices, but still have the option to bold the font. While it's true that the covers don't show in grid view on the Kindle, or on the "home" screen, I don't use either of those things. The cover *does* show when the Kindle is asleep, which is nice.
