The actual problem with the ereader is an unknown, so who knows how much it will cost to diagnose then repair. Then there is always the chance the repairer cannot repair it, or it will cost more to repair than a new ereader. You decide not to repair, but you are still hit with a $xx quotation fee. Suddenly the new ereader has become that little bit more expensive.
It may be more cost effective to simply purchase a new one.
