I was thrilled with my first Kindle in 2009, it basically gave reading back to me. I pretty much hated the little basic Kindle with the skinny page turn buttons. It was awkward and clicky, and by far my least favorite.
My first Paperwhite was a bit mottled, but the front light improved my reading experience again. The next generation of the Paperwhite I still have, and sometimes play the active content games on it. It has a bright pixel right in the middle of the screen, but that wasn't there when it was new.
The Kobo was ok screen wise, but the least stable of any e-reader I've had. It locked up frequently. The Oasis has been a disappointment, dismal battery life, weird behavior, and I don't like page turn buttons. The 2019 Paperwhite is a great device, and the newest larger screen Paperwhite seems very solid, but I've only had it a short time.
