It is a tri-band router so I can split if I need to, but I didn't need to for the 18 months since we got it.

I wasn't able to connect to our router via laptop/WiFi, but the ethernet connected computer could and I split off the 2.4 Ghz band (Verizon calls it IoT for the 2.4 band). So maybe Verizon updated the router configuration recently?
