Wouldn't that be a series? Most (but not all) Raymond Chandler books are about the detective Phillip Marlowe. So under the tag 'Mystery' all Raymond Chandler books show, along with Arthur Conan Doyle and Dashiell Hammett. But under the Phillip Marlowe series, only Raymond Chandler books appear and not every one of them.

Something more complicated like the Dungeons and Dragons line of books, I tag them all as Fantasy and Dungeons & Dragons, but then I also tag them by their setting: Forgotten Realms, Dark Sun, Eberron. Then if those books are part of a smaller series (and most of them are) I add the series info. All three Dragonlance Chronicles books are under the Dragonlance tag. But not all Dragonlance tagged books are part of the Dragonlance Chronicles series.
