Add KOReader. Download the APK direct from Git using build-in browser. Certainly the built-in reader on my Mars is poor for epub but OK for PDF. I use KOReader for epubs on it. My Mars is Android 8.
Android 6 is really old and some useful ereader Apps (Kobo, Kindle, Belinda Borrow box, Google Playbooks) might not work now on 6, or an update might not work.
