I'm back on 4.30.x (on a Forma) and I haven't had any database corruption issues. I don't recall ever having a database corruption issue. I use calibre and calibre's eject the vast majority of the time. I usually transfer a small number of books at a time and I'm usually reading when I plug it in (as opposed to being on the home screen). I wait for the covers to update in the My Books section on the home screen before doing anything with the Forma. I use kepubs generated on the fly.

Also, calibre/Windows doesn't give me any "it is safe to remove ..." message after I eject using calibre.
