as far i know, 20$. BUT if you open a livechat with the support and ask a question about the ads, often the support will tell you that if you want.. they can remove the ads for free.
here in germany i had a question about ads on my kindle paperwhite so i opened a livechat (US livechat, not german one).. and instead of answering to the question, the support told me "..do you want me to remove the ads for free?".. i said yes and boom they we're gone. a lot users experienced similiar.. so asking nice often gets you far in this terms.
