Did you try the factory reset? That should have had an effect of some sort. Whether the reboot would happen afterwards would depend on what was causing it.

One thing you didn't say is how long you had the Elipsa. From the first post, I assumed you had had for a while. But, if this was a new device, it might have been a hardware issue and replacing it is the correct thing. If you had been using it for a few months, hitting a hardware defect seems less likely.
