This news is going hot and heavy on Twitter. I've noticed that some indie authors are worried because D2D has different content rules than Smashwords. So they're worried that Smashwords will start using the D&D rules -- and that their books will be flagged and their accounts will be shut down. So far, D2D is trying to reassure people that everything will be OK.

On the other hand, I've also seen some posts from indie writers who are hoping that this acquisition will help "clean up" Smashwords.

Meanwhile, most authors seem excited because each company will be adding to what the other one already does. Although some are worried because they find conversion through D2D to be "more clunky."
