I'm not sure what "hard reset (with pin at USB connection)" is. The manual factory reset for the Glo HD does not use either the pinhole reset button or the need the USB to be connected. You should try the last method on https://wiki.mobileread.com/wiki/Kobo_Reset:_Glo_HD. But, I expect the image will be needed.
