I would suggest going with an 8" version of an e-reader. You can also adjust fonts, and font properties (including both size and weight/thickness) on Kobo e-readers. Get an 8" Kobo and you have a lot of good options and space for fonts.

I hade personally some problems with uneven warm light on the Kobo Aura One 8" (had three units, before giving up). Now I use Kobo Forma 8", and very happy with the even warm light (have a small dark strip close to the right border, but I do not think about it). Love to read in dark rooms at night with the Forma.

Also a Kobo Sage 8" could be a good option, but due to weight I have not got it myself.
