As for a reset, I only just did yet another upgrade. Do not want to factory reset it all the way back.

Did you ever get it working? I just figured it out and it worked. Don’t do a factory reset just sign out of your Kobo account, let it do it’s thing and then you have to set up the reader again BUT all of your books sideloaded will still be there any any Kobo purchases just have to be downloaded and you’re good to go.
It doesn’t delete your books that you’ve sideloaded so just connect to Calibre if you use that and you’re golden! You will lose bookmarks on sideloaded books. But before you do that or even begin downloading your books go to Settings —> Overdrive
Click on signin. Enter your city or if there’s already your library there choose it. Then the next pages asks you to select your library and then you have the option of signin with your library card (which is what I’ve always done), or Overdrive account. I signed in with my library card and it worked!! Yay!
You will have to authorize the device with ADE again though.
I really hope it works for you. I was having an issue too so I just did a Google search and someone on Reddit posted the info, I tried it and it worked!
