I have now had my Libra 2 for a little over a week, I wanted to give an update to let you know that the highlighting and notes functions are MUCH smoother compared to the Libra H2O. It must be due to the Carta HD screen, as the processor hasn’t been updated. Something else I have noticed is that the screen feels smoother, the Libra H2O had an almost Paperwhite 1 texture - remember when the Paperwhite was launched, and one of the USPs was the texture of the screen (supposedly paper-like), which had a slightly rough finish? The Libra H2O screen reminded me of that, with a very slightly rough finish. The Libra 2 is extremely smooth.
Anyway, a beautiful e-reader, and, for once, I don’t feel guilty about having bought it, as the screen is perfect for my eyes. I love reading EPUBs with two pages on screen at once, and the library kepubs are also great. This time around, I am not going to worry about sticking religiously to one format or the other - I am using EPUBs for my novels with no illustrations or maps, and kepub for everything else.
It’s lovely having the even lighting - with my Libra H2O, whenever I turned to landscape mode (which I do a lot, e.g. when reading epubs in two-page layout) on that device, I always had to try to consciously ignore one brighter uneven patch in the corner. Now I can just concentrate on reading, so it is bliss, actually, as I can stop obsessing about the lighting quality.
I feel the slight extra weight, but it does not trouble me, it actually feels a little more substantial. And the fact that the extra weight is due to a larger battery actually makes me pleased it weighs more. The buttons are much, much better as well. And I love my mauve cover. I hope I can behave with this similar to my iPad, which I will soon have had for ten years, as there has been no need to upgrade (I mostly use it for this kind of thing, and website/newspaper reading, plus the odd game), I would like to just keep this for the next ten years. What would tempt me to upgrade would be moving above 300 dpi. That’s it, really.
For me, upgrading from the Libra H2O to the Libra 2 has been well worth it.

Reason: Gaps between paras added, larger battery, last line added
