On the subject of reviews, I just learned of the untimely death, at 65, of Terry Teachout. He was so good you read his reviews for the quality of the writing itself apart from the subjects of the reviews, which were astounding in their reach. The NYT obit was equally well written (note the put down of Norman Mailer, which as the Times notes, was unusual for a Teachout review). I've included the link below.
