I suspect he is running into epubs where the line spacing is set as an absolute value. In that case, the line spacing slider will not have an effect. You can override that behaviour for kepubs and epubs but it does require enabling 1 patch for kepubs and 2 patches for epubs, The required patches would be Force user line spacing in KePubs and Force user line spacing in ePubs (part 1 of 2) in the libnickel patches and Force user line spacing in ePubs (part 2 of 2) in the librmsdk patches.
