@ abraum: You could try the ePubTidyTool plugin [https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh....php?t=264378].

This can remove unwanted tags and can change tags that contain, e.g.,

<span style="font-weight: bold;">text</span>

to

<b>text</b>
