As for 'well known'? Well known by whom? Most widely adopted? Sure. Best archive format? You are entitled to your opinion and I am entitled to believe that your opinion is derisible.
Care to guess which one gives a better result? That would be archiving in ePub. There is a thread someplace on MR about what format to use for archiving and ePub is it.
