Ok, don't know how I missed this thread. Native Texan here. My great-great grandfather built the first frame house in Hutchinson County, Texas. (Up until then, they'd all been living in dugouts). Born in Irving, raised in Stinnett (north of Amarillo), spent the last ten years or so in Cisco (between Ft. Worth and Abilene). I've travelled through most of the state at one time or another.
Even though I'm now in Illinois, and I love it here, too, Texas is the home of my heart.

p.s. Ricky, I'm truly sorry you feel the way you do about Texas. I wish for your sake you didn't feel Trapped in Texas and instead loved it the way I do. Maybe it truly is a state of mind.
