Thank you, I ran both scans and all is ok with the external drive and the library. the error happens when I try to add books to Calibre I am using a Mac (Big Sur) it must be an issue with the epub I think. I added the books to the Kobo library directly and it works fine. Thank you all for your response, and I apologize
for not adding more details when I posted.
