Did not manage to factory reset it by any combination of the power button presses but the image worked. Back to reading now after letting it update itself for half an hour.
Strangely enough I could not write the microSD card with the vconsole image writer. It just failed at about 10% with a generic error message. Win32DiskImager worked though.
