Yes, but as you are not carrying the ereader in your pocket, you probably have plenty of space to carry a cable as well as the powerbank.

This is a matter of perceived convenience. Is it easier to handle the PowerCover or carry the external battery and cable? The advantage of the former is it is a single thing to transport but it might be heavy when reading. The advantage of the latter is that it can be used to charge other devices if needed but when reading, the weight will be lower. It is up to everyone to decide what is best for them.

I suppose a question is how much weight in the PowerCover is the cover, the battery and whatever else is needed to charge the battery and hold it in the cover. Which in some ways is asking how much extra would the Sage weigh if Kobo had put this battery inside the device as well as the current battery.
