Hello all,
Apologies if this is not the right forum, it's my first time posting here. I'd love some input!
I'm looking for suggestions on troubleshooting why 5.34 won't properly start when my laptop (Acer Switch 5 running Win10 64bit) is connected to its USB-C docking station (Plugable UD-ULTCDL) but will work fine when it is not connected.
By not starting I mean it will start the executable then fail quietly.
When running calibre-debug -g I get the following output:
Code:
calibre 5.34 [64bit] embedded-python: True is64bit: True
Windows-10-10.0.19041 Windows ('64bit', 'WindowsPE')
('Windows', '10', '10.0.19041')
Python 3.8.5
Windows: ('10', '10.0.19041', '', 'Multiprocessor Free')
Interface language: None
Turning on automatic hidpi scaling
Miscellaneous steps/observations I've done:
- I did not see any entries in Windows' Application, System, or Security logs related to this error.
- I've updated Windows itself and all the drivers I could find for the docking station (it uses DisplayLink drivers, currently running 10.1 from Sep 2021) as well as other drivers on the system.
- I've tried the scaling feature on Calibre auto, on & off, with same result. (only difference is message saying "turning off hidpi" when I have it set to off.
- All displays (laptop native and external monitors) are set for 100% scaling.
- Removing and reinstalling Calibre did not appear to make any changes.
- Looking at process startup via ProcMon64 yields over 3,000 entries but nothing jumped at me in terms of errors.
I suspect it might be related to the Qt subsystem, but I don't know how to troubleshoot it.
Any suggestions on how to proceed?
Many thanks in advance!
Fernando
