OTOH, the snow has stopped falling and we now have rain. With the snow clogging the drains, we are getting some sizable puddles with the usual idiots who don't think that slowing down and driving to the road conditions might be a Good Idea causing multiple single vehicle accidents.

That's why I prefer to stay off the road for the first day of heavy snow. I've seen people driving +30 mph on ice roads.
