Correct me if I'm wrong but that is not possible on a Kindle either. You said "Kindle does it on pretty much any format", but Kindle doesn't open epubs?

An option for enhanced epub capability on your Sage (one I use on mine) is to try installing KOReader, something else which I believe is not possible in the most current Kindle FW
