It can be either. After googling a little, it's possible that the connector labelled CON2 on the lower left of the board is the UART through which you can view the console. You would need a serial-to-usb convertor like I mentioned earlier. Since you say you are not savvy with hardware, then you probably don't have such a device on hand. You can google UART and serial-to-usb to see if you are interested in taking on such a project. Keep in mind that this would just help you see what gets printed out on the console when the reader boots up. You would then need to decipher that to see if it tells you what actually needs to be fixed.

Edit: Whoops! The CON2 information I saw was for the PocketBook 611 model. I'm pretty sure that the CON2/CON6 connectors are for the speakers on the 602. Sorry about that.
