Sorry, I missed replying to this.

When the book is uploaded, any cover on the device is always removed. That way the device can regenerated it if the cover in the book changed. It only fails for books that have been opened recently and have the cover cached in memory. Sometimes that doesn't get regenerated.

If you are sending covers with the books, they should be sent when resending a book. If that isn't happening, it is a bug.
