Tomorrow is 10 years since this plugin was first posted (under the older FFDL name). I'm sorry, but I just don't have the energy to do step-by-step very much anymore.

FFF (and Calibre, and book readers in general) tend to assume that if a book has the same title and author, it's the same book.

What I do in such cases is change the title of the old book. New story with new storyUrl won't try to update it when the title is different.

If the author re-uses the same storyUrl, you also need to remove the identifer:url value with Calibre's Edit metadata on the old book.
